Smoke Detectors:
1. In multi-story homes, use at least one per floor. Refer to installation instructions for
placement recommendations.
2. Most of these devices contain a trace amount of radioactive material and have an
expiration date on them (usually about 10 years) and must be replaced at that time.
3. Remember to change batteries at least once per year.
4. Test them every 3 months.
Kitchen Grease Fires:
Pay close attention to this dangerous situation !
Adjust your volume if needed.
Outdoor burning:
1. Notify the Sheriff's Office of all
controlled burns

2. Never burn during a
BURN BAN.
3. Don't burn on windy days.
Early morning is usually best.
4. Burn after a rain if possible.
Always have a water hose handy just in case.
5. NEVER leave the fire unattended.
6. Burn several small piles of brush instead of one large one, or as the fire burns down, add
more brush slowly.
7. Clear the area around the burn site for at least 50 feet.
8. State law prohibits burning after sundown.
9. Wear protective clothing while burning brush or trash.

Safety Tips
Carbon monoxide detectors:
If you use natural gas, propane, or wood heating devices,
install a CO detector in a main living area. Infants
and the elderly are especially vulnerable.
