1. Remain calm. 2. Call 911; Be prepared to clearly describe the situation and the exact location of the emergency. 3. Give the dispatcher your name and phone number. 4. If there is an electronic gate, give the entry code to the dispatcher. 5. Make sure all gates are unlocked and send a helper to the main road to flag emergency vehicles if needed. 6. Help get all people and pets away from danger if possible but don't put yourself in danger. 7. All houses should have a large 911 address sign clearly posted where it is visible from the roadway (Day or Night) 8. If emergency personnel can't find you, precious time is wasted. Remember, locating emergencies is much more difficult in rural areas. |
